I enjoy..
1. The history
2. Scenery (it’s a pretty city)
3. Access to high quality healthcare and education, and the intelligent people those fields bring (in addition to life sciences and tech)
4. Proximity to beaches/cape cod or mountains
5. General feeling of city pride
6. Sports (easy one)
7. Size - easy to walk from Fenway to seaport in one go
8. General cleanliness compared to other cities
I’m sure I’m missing some.. and to those who want to nitpick and say other cities are better or whatnot with any of the above: I’m not saying Boston is the best at any of these. Just what I enjoy about it.
Boston is an awesome city. It’s a perfect size - not too big and not small enough that you’re quickly bored. Theres cool history behind it and tons of old stuff. There’s a pretty good restaurant scene and great breweries. There are awesome picturesque neighborhoods that have sense of community. There are great companies here as well.
There’s also proximity to other stuff in New England: we’re a short drive from some of the best beaches in the country. It’s a couple hours to go skiing in NH or Vermont, and a couple hours to Portland or other points in Maine. It’s quick to get to Newport which is a fun weekend as well. I think there are very few other cities that offer this kind of accessibility to all kinds of nature. It’s also a 15 minute Uber to the airport from most parts of the city.
I am not opposed to getting out of Boston at some point and spending a few years elsewhere but I can’t imagine settling down anywhere else.
All my stuff is here
