100% of the time I travel to Cape Cod, Newport, Portland, or the mountains of New Hampshire, I feel different in the best way. It is always worth it.
Only during shoulder season…May and Sept/early October.
Also consider the North Shore (Rockport, Manchester…): very cute, nice beaches, possible to do a day trip only, and overall less expensive
Take the ferry from boston to ptown and thank me later
This is great but….the drive is painful and ferry can be expensive and then you are beholden to others schedules….
I don’t go every weekend but if you go to Falmouth/sandwich it’s a pretty short ride from Boston and very easy to swing it. But agree with above — the cape is magical and I always feel better when I come home.
Every. Weekend. Completely worth it to me. First real financial goal was to buy a Cape house.
Where did you buy?
Look at Bourne sandwich Falmouth Mashpee cotuit. Towns close to the beginning. So you are not beholden to rt 6 traffic mania.
In consulting I always felt a cape /vacation home was key to stress/life management when hard to get away on vacation and work life is intense. Even if you go to cape for the day driving over that bridge is a stress reliever.
I’ve had mine fifteen years so math was better back then but can still be a goal
Also know your area. For me “walk to beach” was key. Others prefer in town or near boat spots.
Good luck!
