I accepted a job that is far for low pay. I asked the company to make me permanently remote. They verbally agreed but wouldn’t put it in writing (sketchy). But I needed the job. At 4.5 years with great reviews, they want me to sign a contract that says they can cancel remote at any time. If I don’t sign they say they will cancel remote now. My husband works but I don’t have another job lined up right now (I’m trying). I hate to put it all on my husband but signing feels like a trap. Thoughts?

I’m OP adding context because I didn’t have space in post.
I have been applying/ interviewing for other jobs and even when I get far along in the process, ultimately I haven’t been selected. I know the market is competitive in my area.
I don’t actually need remote if I got a closer job. This job just doesn’t pay enough to justify the hours on the road at these high gas prices.
Finally… this job is constantly saying we need to do more, not replacing people who quit, cutting benefits, will NOT promote at the branch only from headquarters overseas. It’s not good and I know that. I don’t think anyone likes being here but the market is tough.
Is there some extra bad element to signing the contract that I need to know about? Would it be better to refuse and then quit if they try to force me in? Or should I sign and stay until they try to force me in and then quit?

If it were me, I would sign and continue looking for another role. Once you have another job secured then quit. In this job market I would not quit without having another job lined up.

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped. A report opened to me that they are having money problems and wants a raise. We are remote and they moved to a high CoL city. We gave an increase to help with retention 6mths ago. Negotiation in new offer: I’m moving from fully remote to fully in office (with chance of hybrid later) offer for associate director in quality in pharma for 170k base, 18% bonus and 75k equity. I’ve asked for a sign on bonus as I’m not eligible for annual next year and will be missing my current jobs bonus. I should hear tomorrow (asking for 28k). Thoughts about the offer? Did anyone ever work 2 jobs at once in the same industry? What are some legal boundaries if any ? From my contract it doesn't state I couldn't do this but still I would like to know who and how can find out if I do this activity? I'm guessing the government can always know because they can see additional taxes being paid for the same individual ? However I don't envision a government entity disclosing this to the employers ?
