Weighing/negotiating offer to stay in current role or jump - wwyd ?

Current base $150k
Unvested equity $800k

Offer $190k
Sign-on $75k
Equity $40k

Pros - wlb, career growth potential
Cons - offer seems a bit low given unvested at current company - worth it to even negotiate?

What series is your current company vs this potential company? What percentage of your equity has vested in the existing company? Has the existing job been giving you more equity over time, not just the initial? Is it trending towards a liquidity event? Is there room at your current company to grow? Why are you looking to leave your current company?

In addition to above comments from CPO1, what is your vesting schedule on the 800k and 40k?

like

Do the net math over the amount of years until vested. The difference in pay likely won't justify giving up that 800k. That's even assuming it doesn't grow further

likesmart

Stay. Even if you only stay 2 years, you're way ahead.

like

Stay until you are fully vested.

You be insane to do otherwise

Hey all,
Im looking to pivot my career from industrial design to product design or product management.
At the moment i manage a team of 5 industrial designers for b2b sustainable fashion and retail interiors. The methodologies and processes are quite similar between physical and digital design so i feel i should not start from a junior position, however my portfolio contains only physical. Did anybody else make a similar career switch? Any advice for switching to product is welcome. Thanks!

Please help. I’ve moved up the ranks pretty quickly at the company I work for to become a Principal SE. I’m torn because I do love being an IC but I’m interested in leadership also. What do I do?

I have an interview tomorrow to work at a fintech startup. I'm slightly worried as I'm not sure what it'll be like working While they use functional programming which I enjoy, I'm concerned about how much pressure I'll be under.

What is it like working at a fintech company? Is the salary at a fintech company typically higher than other tech jobs? It'll be higher than gamedev, but just wanted to learn about whether the pressure will be worth it eventually etc.

I’m an early startup having raised a bit of money from family and friends to help grow my business. Time is moving fast and I’m potties I won’t hit my targets and being the return back to those who invested.
Once I have used the money that’s been invested there’s no way of seeing it again and still bringing the return quick enough.

The numbers still show it’s possible, I still believe in the concept and I’m still growing, I think I just have some imposter syndrome.
