What exactly is making you feel this way? Maybe it's time to look into a therapist or other help. Burnout is no joke and it can take years to recover from. Being proactive about addressing these feelings can prevent a lot of damage.
I agree with 👆supervisor- a therapist is great self-care and can help you to determine where the panic is coming from and how to best manage it. Teaching has become a totally different beast in the last several years. Personally, I found a giant weight was lifted when I finally gave myself permission to seek a new profession after 23 years.
What profession did you switch to?
That sounds stressful! My only advice is to take it week by week. Maybe try to plan a good 10 minutes each weekend for decompression. (I know any more than that is next to impossible)
I booked a quick trip to see my daughter in Florida in mid February so that I have something to look forward to doing.

The only thing that’s worked for me is walking. I did not start walking for my benefit. I did it for my dog. One block turned into 3-5 miles daily. I had so much mental clarity while walking, could get out of my head a bit, and could assess the big rocks from the little rocks (Sean covey) and process it all. It really helped me and while I consciously know this, I’m having a hard time getting back into walking myself. Walking helps w anxiety but then again any exercise would help. Good luck!

One day at a time. Leave if you need to— whether permanent or temporary leave
I’m not happy about having to return either. I’m a great deal less stressed out than I was before break but I don’t feel ready to hit the ground running. Another week might help. Three days may just be enough time to get back on my sleep schedule.
