I am 68 and work for a real estate developer. We have 60 plus residential properties and commercial properties across the country. I process the A/P for 13 of them. My Director of A/p has a lot on her plate and she is a stickler for perfection. It’s like every months she chooses one of us to be the punching bag and today it was me. The rules change all the time along with the people we have to talk to out in the field. Every night I come home tired and I’m not the only one. Any Advice

I’m 67 and had the same issue. I just smiled , thanked her for pointing out my errors and went about my business. It does no good to try and explain or defend yourself. And for goodness sake do not gossip about her. This person is very insecure in their position and it will catch up to her. The alternative, like I did was to find another position. It’s hard at our age to find new positions. I started as temp and was hired. I love my job and I work with some awesome people. Good luck..

I would write down the new rules. Then when there is conflict, you have notes to refer to. Then I would ask what the core reason is for her attacks. Document those also. HR represents the company so if the attacks are violating the law, then file a complaint. If not, you will have to deal with the bully. I would look into retirement now versus when you want to retire at a later date.

If the attack based on protected characters, you can file a case with OECC. Research to see if any suits you. If the company retaliates because of this, it will be considered wrongful termination. Document and keep evidence. Write down when, who, and what. It will help in the end.
