The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A Fuck by Mark Manson
Mindfulness bliss and beyond. A book on mediation (reads like a manual) by a British guy with a physics degree who became a Buddhist monk. It's a practice/discipline that you can actually do that changes your brain, rather than any kind of wishful thinking you may get from a self help book
Self help books are a bit of a con, in all seriousness everyone's 'mileage varies' way more than a book can reasonably target. By all means read some that people recommend, but bear in mind there isn't a magic wand of positivity that will make you a)better at life or b) happier. Just beware the brief couple of weeks after reading a book where you get a disproportionately positive outlook based on some pish, then after a few weeks finding nothing has really changed and the crash that makes it worse like a come down from 40 triple espressos. Instead, make time for the things you enjoy and be firm enough to not let your job/relationships/anything else sap too much of your time. It's extremely easier said than done, I know, but it's the best advice I ever got.
Thanks all. @Barclays, I agree. I definitely don't think that one book will be a magic cure-all for me; however, at this point I'm grasping at straws.
