I prioritize sleep and working out over all other things (other than work). I billed 2400 last year and still managed to work out (though I don’t have kids)! On the days when I really couldn’t squeeze it in, I have a walking pad to at least get movement in. But weight gain is 80% diet - eat healthy and control your portions.
Completely understand! Having kids is definitely another level. Sending you all the positive vibes so you can find something that works for you!
fill up with your body weight in grams of protein first (130 pounds - 130g protein a day) and you won’t over eat on carbs. for sugar cravings i like chobani 20g protein yogurt with frozen berries :)
Zepbound and Adderall 🤦🏻♀️
Zepbound
I’m exhausted all the time and idk what people say about making the time bla bla bla. Between the work hours, helping kids do homework, and trying to have real home cooked food for dinner, evenings are out of the question.
Early 6am walks, 20 min strength 3-5x a week at night while my hubby and I are watching Netflix, and 2 weekend classes. I’m not losing weight, but not gaining either.
You are busy and are really trying. Keep up the good work!
Mine is - shooting for lots of fiber and protein every day (e.g., salad kits with chicken for lunch), probiotics and probiotic-rich foods for gut health, 7k+ steps a day, and drinking lots of sparkling mineral water
A4 lol your comment made my day
I’ve always been thin, active and athletic. I’m a vegetarian. I’m a decent but not a terrible eater. But, aging and weight gain for most is inevitable with a demanding job, spouse and kids. I’m 58. I gained 30 pounds in 30 years. It made everything harder including working out. I tried Wegovy and there is no turning back. I lost those stubborn 30 pounds in a year. It gave me 10 years back. I have to pay for it on my own now b/c insurance no longer covers it for my BMI, but discount programs are available. I would have tried to lose on my own first when younger. But know how hard it is at any age. Good luck.
Thank you for also acknowledging genetics and age. My mom eats tiny meals in her mid-70s and is overweight. Life catches up with most of us at some point.
SA1 is correct. Weight gain is mainly diet. Find enjoyable lighter snacks and meals to eat! Berries are so low in calories and make great snacks. Popcorn (provided it isn’t too sugary or buttery) is another wonderful snack option. Try veggies, a protein and a complex carb for lunch & dinner options. Sweet potatoes, brown rice, quinoa are delicious complex carb options. You can find ready made ingredients in the store so when you come home, you are simply heating things up. First step is awareness, all you need to do is execute. Be kind to yourself-one day at a time. If you fall off with your diet. just start again. Falling off for a day or a few weeks is much better than months on end. You got this!!!!!!
You have to make working out a non-negotiable, however that can fit into your life, and then do your best to eat whole, unprocessed foods. For me, I workout early morning, before the baby and toddler are up at 6:30 am, because that’s the only time I know I’ll have to myself. Then try to eat as healthy as I can throughout the day although I’m nowhere close to perfect.
It’s not easy but the hardest part is getting into the routine. Once you’re in the routine, it just becomes what you do and you feel off when you don’t workout or you eat too much crap. Also it doesn’t have to be all or nothing! Sometimes a 20 minute run or strength is all I can do, or I join in the office pizza lunch, and that’s okay. Consistency is what is key. Good luck!
I tracked my macros, met with a trainer and worked out 5+ days per week last year for 8 weeks, and lost 20 pounds. It wasn’t sustainable for my current availability. I started ozempic after having another baby
Everyone here suggests waking up at 5am to work out but when I’m commuting from 730-830 and on working at 830/9 then online till 10/11pm 3/4 days a week it’s tough to feel rested enough to do that.
Once a week (Saturday morning) I go to a private Pilates session. Hour long session and it has made me feel so strong. My health is getting better and I’m eating better because I feel better.
Also it gives me energy to (2 times during the weekdays) get up in the morning and do 20 mins of floor Pilates before coffee. Ik it’s tough when you have kids (which I don’t) but hopefully you can take 3 hours a week for yourself to start a routine. 🤗 I suggest Pilates to everyone!
Don’t eat the free food. Avoid the alcohol. Prioritize exercise and sleep
I have a 9 month old. I make sure I get a workout in both Saturday and Sunday. If nothing else, that is two workouts a week. I also have a peloton so I can jump on to do even a 20-min class when given the opportunity. I’m hybrid, so this pretty much only happens on a day I work from home. I wake up at 5/5:30AM every day, but between getting baby and me ready there is no time for a workout. Walks with the babe in the evening between dinner and bed are great, too. I try to take a midday walk when the weather is nice, just 20 min or so. I eat healthy-ish but certainly not perfect. Being a momma means being ready to cram something in when given the chance, in my experience. I stay away from scrolling, which is a major time suck. I still weigh the same as I did when I graduated high school (but I don’t discount how much genetics play a role in that). Weight gain isn’t mostly diet like some have suggested - it’s purely energy out vs. energy in. However, you may be eating more calories than you realize. I am not a snacker at all. Hope this gives you some ideas!
I love the after dinner walks with kiddo suggestion.
You stop eating and take Wellbutrin. TW eating disorder - only half kidding
Wegovy
I’ve worked out 5 days per week at 5am for the past 15 years and generally eat well/don’t have time to care with work and 2 kids. It might not sound sustainable to some people but this has been my routine for so long I wouldn’t even know how to exist without it.
Make it a priority. It’s important for both your physical and mental health. Even on busy weeks, prioritize making the time to go for an hour 3x times. For me, on busy weeks that means only one weekday workout then a workout on both Saturday and Sunday, but even this really makes a difference.

I’ve never been skinny and will never be skinny and have accepted that fact lol.
But in all seriousness, i have lost a pretty substantial amount of weight in the last few years, here’s what I do:
1. I get up at 5:30 and work out from home in the mornings and take a yoga class on the weekends. I have a 2yo who chills and plays with her toys while I exercise.
2. I limit carbs and prioritize protein. I’ve worked with a nutritionist in the past to figure out what works best for my body.
3. I had my hormones checked and found out I have PCOS so I take Inositol and Berberine in the mornings to help balance my hormones.
4. I’ve really cut down my alcohol intake from cocktails several nights a week to a glass of wine or beer a couple nights a week and cocktails maybe once or twice a month.
5. Except for aforementioned alcoholic drinks, I don’t drink anything except water or unsweetened coffee/tea. If I’m eating out sometimes I’ll have a diet soda. But generally no soda, juice, coffee creamer, etc.
Wake up at 4 am to work out.
I've trained for 11 marathons while working full time. You can do it.
I don’t have time to eat, so…
