I am thinking of going on a small trip at the beginning of August right before school starts back up, but I've been seeing so many nightmare travel stories on social media with people's flights being diverted, canceled, etc. Is it really that bad out there? I am a penny-pincher so if I spend money to go on a trip I don't want to have a bad experience.

I always thought June as the ideal month to travel. I know prices have gone up considerably of you’re thinking of flying. Weather delays can always mess things up but that’s something that is more unpredictable.

Good luck! Where were you thinking of going?

I say take a few days for an adventure and have fun lol

I hope you don't encounter any issues. That type of thinking sometimes prevents adventures from happening

I say, “Go for it!” Carpe Diem, baby! You only live once. I wonder if you paid a little extra for a flex ticket if it would help your peace of mind.
If you needed to leave a day earlier, you could.

Both really good points. I was raised in a very money-tight household and my parents loved to pinch pennies. We probably didn't travel as much as we should have and so I'm trying to break out of that mold a bit.

I think social media exaggerates everything

Very true. It often makes extremes out of one end or the other.
