I believe working in hospitality teaches you patience and people skills like no other job. From handling difficult guests to ensuring everyone feels welcomed, it’s a constant balance of grace and hard work. The most exhausting part is long hours, but seeing a happy customer makes it worth. Every day brings new faces and challenges, keeping the job far from boring. Still, you need a passion to stay in the job.

I'm in retail right now and don't love it. So yes, I'd definitely consider working in hospitality. I have to think a lot of my retail skills would translate to the hospitality world and have even applied to a couple front desk jobs, but I haven't been able to get one yet.

You are right about that. My very first job was in hospitality and it taught me more than any other job could have. The holidays can be rough but other than that I loved working in hospitality.

I would agree I’ve learned a lot from my time working in customer service. I definitely learned how to deal with people. However, I wouldn’t necessarily say I have a passion for customer service.

Is there any advantage to telling a company you are interested in working for in the future where you decided to accept an offer from? Or does it not matter? I accepted an offer a week ago with a great company (Company A) that for this season in my life seems like a great fit and only strengthens what I have to offer company B down the road. Company B just sent me a request for interview and I want to keep the door open with Company B but they were just very late in extending an interview.
