Do employees on the PDM path also get a new laptop every two years or is that just traditional? Or is it a complete myth?

Everyone gets a new laptop when their lease is up - but they're not always new. Laptops are leased (firm doesn't actually buy).

like

Every 2 years, your laptop will be brand new. Only in between if you have issues might you get a refurb or hard drive swap. Doesn’t matter what model you’re in.

like

“2 years”. With the pandemic and now shortages, my lease end has been pushed out twice. Soon I will be at year 4 with the same crappy laptop…oh well. As PDM we don’t always have to use it a ton

How do you handle billing disputes? Already feel like we’re a steal compared to other firms, but it’s the pits when clients kvetch about the bill after working hard on their matters. For five figure disputes, anyone recommend collections? Don’t really want to institute retainers, especially since it doesn’t seem common for our practice area.

Additional Posts in Deloitte Project Delivery

I've gotten the Deloitte D launch orientation survey. Me start date is on the 16th (less than 2 weeks). I've emailed BI onboarding twice, called my recruiter asking if they are ok with background/employment verification check and I've not gotten a response. I need to put in my 2 week notice and all my recuiter has said is I can push your start date out. Has anyone been thru this ? Does getting the D launch orientation email imply everything is good with background/employment checks

Recently joined the firm as a project delivery specialist. During recruiting, the team harped on how great my background was and how much a good fit I would be for the firm/project...

Well, I was on an onboarding call and they were talking about staffing and projects. The presenter said to reach out to them if you don’t think your project is a good fit. In his words “you were hired into the firm, not a specific project. We see you here long term... With the exception of PDM model” 😅
