I have a possible opportunity at Protiviti. Coming from big4 and wondering if Protiviti has fairly similar perks. I’ve read the 2022 benefits guide and it gave a oddly low PTO count of 16 days. Is this true and what about a holiday disconnect in the December time period? Are there any other hidden perks that are awesome? Already heard WLB is better and the culture, but I feel like I’ve gotta find that out first hand. Protiviti

Yeah, the higher-pay-with-flexibility combo is the unicorn everyone’s chasing right now. It’s tough because a lot of companies still act like “flexible” means “we’ll let you work from home two days a week if you’re lucky,” while the truly remote-first or async roles with real money often go to people with very specific skills or networks.
First off, solidarity. you’re not alone in finding it hard. The market’s weird: tons of openings, but the ones that check both boxes get snapped up fast or are super competitive.
On the AI thing: yes, I’ve used it a ton and it’s been a game-changer for volume and quality of applications. Here’s what actually worked for me: Tailoring resumes/cover letters: I paste the job description into ChatGPT or Grok and say “rewrite my resume to match this JD while keeping my voice” or “write a cover letter that highlights my X experience for this role.” It catches ATS keywords I’d miss and makes the language sharper without sounding robotic.
LinkedIn messages: I’ll have it draft short, non-cringe outreach notes to recruiters (“here’s my background, here’s the job posting, write a polite 3-4 sentence message”).
Interview prep: Ask it to generate likely questions for a specific role/company and then practice answers out loud. Grok’s pretty good at behavioral questions because it doesn’t give the same canned STAR-method answers every other site does.
Thanks for the solidarity! It’s reassuring to know I’m not alone in this search. I appreciate your insights on using AI—especially the tips about tailoring resumes and drafting outreach messages. I’ve never used Grok before, but it sounds really useful!
I’ve been wondering if there’s any AI out there that can handle most of this more automatically. It would be great to find a tool that streamlines the process even further, especially for someone juggling flexibility and a job hunt. Any recommendations?
