In short, no
How many roommates do you want?
I earn 100k more and can’t afford that in NYC.
If you doubled your salary when you moved to NYC, the answer would still be no
Not even close in Manhattan. Maybe outer boroughs.
You can rent a room in a condo with that salary, sure.
You can afford a one bedroom in Crown Heights
How large is your trust fund? If you don’t have one, no shot
LOL
How’s Miami on a 165k salary? I am moving there soon
Judging by OP's question, you'll be able to afford a mansion and retirement by Monday EOD
You can probably rent a 2BR north of 100th street in Manhattan and in other NYC boroughs.
Renting/buying in the suburbs and commute into Manhattan for work is an option that a lot of people take, but it probably won’t give you the NYC experience that you want.
Yeah you could find a 2-BD for ~70k a year around here with beautiful views.. you might have to limit your diet though to broccoli and beans 🤷🏻♂️
Especially if you're talking about living near Manhattan, try more like 750k to be comfortable (to be clear, you'll still be middle class lifestyle)
We make between 750k and 1.3 mm a year with two kids and still dare not live in Manhattan.
I make 250k and can barely afford a 1 bedroom!
You can get a studio outside Manhattan.
Ehhh noooo
Lol
If you want to scratch the itch, maybe just rent for a little while. Look for a place in Jersey City NJ, where you can easily get into Manhattan quickly by the rail system/path and still experience the city life for a little bit less , although I’ll tell you it’s still expensive.
I’m just commenting bc I want to know if this was a serious question for OP. Like you can live somewhere that’s accessible to nyc but I hope you weren’t thinking manhattan proper.
There is no way one can afford 3 bedroom in Miami on 165k
