What a spiteful, unnecessary slap in the face. Heaven forbid people have equal opportunities in this country. It's not much, but I found this at least somewhat heartening: "It also comes just as Chuck Robbins, the CEO of Cisco and head of the influential Business Roundtable, defended the value of DEI for corporate America in an Axios interview in Davos." With all these depressing headlines popping up, it's good to remember there are still some good people out there.

Which executive order are you referring to? An executive order cannot repeal a law passed and signed into law. The Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972 is still a law. Please don’t spread misinformation. Congress can repeal statutes, the Supreme Court can strike down statutes, the President cannot do either with executive orders. EOs can be used to repeal prior EOs and to direct federal agencies to execute the law in a particular manner.

I clarified your post (which incorrectly labeled a law and said Trump overturned it) and how EOs actually work. Words matter. If you feel chastised for having information you publicly shared corrected, that is something you have to personally grapple with. I did not personally attack you, I asked for your sources and explained EOs. We should all make sure we’re accurately sharing information publicly. I didn’t say anything about not finding comfort with peers or this space not being for that, I’m not sure how you jumped to that conclusion from my explaining what EOs can actually do. If that’s a conclusion you reach, that’s one you jumped to on your own. I hope you can take the time you need to fully process and understand the changes with the new administration and find ways to engage meaningfully.
My understand of it is that Trump's executive order negates one signed by President Johnson in 1965, which ordered the Secretary of Labor to ensure equal opportunity for women and people of color. Trump's order doesn't say it explicitly, but it's aimed at what the right wing claims is "anti-white racism." So the enforcement power of the federal government will now be focused on protecting against this presumed discrimination against white people.
So in essence they will be doubling down on what is systemic
