At my school, everything goes, and there are no repercussions for their unacceptable behavior or language. Students are rewarded for their unacceptable behavior while teachers are scolded if they try to correct the behavior. The climate and culture of my school is absolutely hostile and toxic this year more than ever.

Do you consider it an admin contribution to the toxicity? Or is it district wide?
Honestly it depends. If the kids swear at each other, they get remind about our school policy of no swearing. If it’s swearing directly at/about a teacher, it is written up.
It's so frustrating. In our high school the kids are allowed to talk anyway they want. The F bomb is flying by I'd say 95% of the kids. Some teachers talk to the kids this way also. I'm old school and have a really hard time with it. They moved me to the Jr. High and its much better. You get written up if you talk that way. Way more respect
There needs to be professionalism. Teachers and Students need to speak appropriately! Teachers especially are the role models and need to uphold a set of standards. It is a non negotiable!
If it is just once out of frustration, and/or they quickly apologize/ it just slipped out; I tell them to stop and I let it go. However, if it is repeatedly and/ or directed at me or anyone else, I write them up. It depends on intent and the context.
I mostly ignore it when I hear it if it's quiet. If I can hear it across the room, I'll just say, "language" and usually get an oops or apology. I'd write it up if it were directed at me, but it hasn't been.
I draw the line at what I find offensive. Since using God's name has become an everyday term in society, THAT is what I come down hardest on (as I think everyone who follows a religion that has an ultimate Deity should otherwise it shows your own disdain for your Diety). I hold the line that in MY presence, in MY classroom, foul language and offensive language will not be tolerated, even if accepted outside my doors. My students are all good kids - its a great district for the most part - and get to the point where they police each other on this issue since they know it's such a BIG issue with me.

Every now and then when a student pops off with weird or slightly inappropriate language, I'll just start talking in Pig Latin, the surprised, confused faces are priceless,🤣
Even with young children they know so many more potty words than I did at that age. The hardest part is when parents have different rules at home. Then those children influence the others in their class.
