I got an NI in how component and a strong in what component in my review. Previously my manager told me that we will not put you in PIP and now last week he told me that he has got a mail from HR that it has become mandatory for anyone who has got NI to go through PIP

Is this true or is he just toying with me. Really concerned am i going to loose my job. He has told me that he will put me into the smallest duration possible.
