It’s really confusing to understand your real problem. For a social connection, now you have 100% time to yourself. You can be in social groups 100% of the time as opposed to only when you woke up from your desk to get coffee.
Go out , meet with people and get a social connection.
Work to live, not live to work.. yeah 2 months of unemployment is not going to kill you, just learn to enjoy it while looking for jobs on the side.
Structure for my day was probably the hardest thing to figure out after my first few weeks. Make a schedule and include whatever you need in it. Whether that is social connecting, applying for jobs, learning, or whatever gets you through it.
I am sorry to hear that. I was laid off during the pandemic and I know how much it sucks. I would suggest finding ways to get out of the house, even if its just to go socialize at the library.
I hear OP, though. It's hard to make friends or build a community for yourself when you're older and people at work become the ones you talk to. They're not exactly your 'friends' but they do help with social connection part.
