I spend a lot of my weekend doing life admin stuff. Deep cleaning my house, setting out my clothes for the week, meal prepping. My week is too chaotic to not do as much as I can to set myself up for success.
Would love to hear suggestions from people. This is a week from hell for me. I'm resigned to getting 4 or 5 hours of sleep every night this week because of my workload. No other solution for me at my current workplace other than put my head down and just get the work done while dealing with the emergencies that are sent my way on top of whatever I already have to get done. Writing this as I commute 1.5 hours driving to get to my job. Sigh. Apparently I am living the American dream? I would quit, but I can't afford to.
Coming back from a tough Monday isn’t easy, but try! Whenever you get a chance, try to set up your highest priority tasks and schedule. I started using the Eisenhower matrix to sort out my work, and it’s been a great way for me to visualize.
It’s always brutal to come into the week feeling instantly behind. It’s minor, but I just try to tackle a few things to get them off the list even if they aren’t the biggest. It gets my momentum going and feels satisfying to see a few things go off the list for what I need to think about.
I also never skip time to step away for a coffee or lunch or chat with a friend. If I don’t do that the anxiety grows for me. The work will always be there, there no end in sight so I just try to make sure I take moments to recharge
