How should someone decide between product based and consulting for data science roles?
What are the pros and cons of each? How does the work vary between the two? Any difference in terms of compensation?

Hi Fishes, asking this for a friend working as SAP BASIS Consultant.
He performed well in TCS technical round and HR also seemed to be happy with his performance.
He asked for 8.5 LPA, his current CTC being 4.3 LPA, with little over 3 years of experience.
HR said they would call him later and after 4 days, HR called and said she was informed by management that they could only provide 6 LPA :(
Any idea why they offered him that less? He is very disappointed with the way things turned out to him

Work Life Balance is so subjective and doesn't give clear picture of any org.

For Instance, Person A less skilled/in learning phase will work for longer time to deliver task A

While Person B more skilled/ more experience will take less time to deliver task A.

There will be more reasons too. And some exception too

Money: About to get a 100% raise vs haven’t discussed.

Clawback: Till next June in IBM because of the retention bonus that I accepted. It’s returnable though.

Getting increment in IBM because, I had an offer from a product based company back in March 2021. They compensated me with 2L and promised a promotion which I am about to get within a week or two.

Hello Fishes. I have received positive feedback from KPMG interviews for consultant position and have submitted documents. It has been 4 days since I haven't received any call for negotiation or offer letter. How long does it take to get that? Has anyone in the bowl faced same delay in KPMG?

I’ve practiced litigation in DC for about 5+ years at a larger plaintiffs’ firm, and am considering a switch to a defense firm. Is there any insight to how many billable hours this would require, and how much time that would actually be? For reference, the firm has a 1900 billable hour requirement and the partner said I would have “no problem” fulfilling that based on the work they have.

Last week at an office meeting the office manager, in front of everyone, without my knowledge beforehand, announced that I was the only person in the office eligible for a senior position. I was shocked and responded in that way. I have to apply for the position and after some thought I decided I didn’t want to do it. They aren’t offering an increase in base pay and giving me the responsibility of management without the title. Yesterday, I received a PIP is this retaliation?

Tax folks out there, do you regret starting out in tax? Not sure if I like the idea of reviewing forms for the rest of my career. Does it get better after manager? Anyone switched and not looked back?
