I have 20 plus years of experience in Oracle ERP implementations, with most part of it being an independent contributor. I am trying to figure out where I should focus my next 10 years. The issue is, I don't think I have a full view of what all my options in the Consulting world. Can someone list out the different streams I should consider. Pre-sale, tech architect, PMO, tech lead are some I could think of.

I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.

However, I feel like I need to do more to stand out and have a stronger software background. Anyone have any tips or suggestions for what I should do on my own time to strengthen my skills?

Client recently offered me a job for an open req (industry eq SM). The work is flexible, the req is just to get me in the door but I decide what I want to work on (which I trust to be true). Much better culture, wlb, etc., but I’d be taking a 100k pay cut and be an IC with no team. Is it worth taking a step back in pay and responsibilities, or does it seem possible to get all in one?
