Client recently offered me a job for an open req (industry eq SM). The work is flexible, the req is just to get me in the door but I decide what I want to work on (which I trust to be true). Much better culture, wlb, etc., but I’d be taking a 100k pay cut and be an IC with no team. Is it worth taking a step back in pay and responsibilities, or does it seem possible to get all in one?

If you’re making a million maybe $100k haircut would be fine, but that’s too rich for my taste.

Is it worth depends on your goals - personal and professional. Getting away from the grind and focusing on family e.g. may make it worth it.

Not worth if it was me.

What’s your comp rn

God no

like

Thats a big pay cut with no clear path in the firm

Definitely not.

$130-140k TC is really low for an industry SM. Should be like $160k-220k TC depending on the industry and role. I would have a hard time going much below $180k based on your current comp and title

Helpful suggestions please.

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped. Now HR is restarting my ET as a new employee. I realize I left, but not on bad terms and I am an exemplar and respected employee. I thought I’d have the upper hand with the nursing shortage but I’m getting the “rules are rules” response. Help!?!

Hey all, 3rd party recruiter reached out to me about a job. We had interview which I think went well. I did not give my salary expectations, but the recruiter provided the hiring budget.

After sending resume, I am now being asked my current income. Seems expectation is ~20-25% comp increase when you change companies. Effectively it would be a promotion, but the budget would be significantly more than 25%.

Do I inflate my current comp? My wife said she had to find a paystub for her job.

Moved to industry recently, so pretty new. I usually log off around 5-5:30 most days, as does most of my dev team & manager. But, others in my role (functional) on other teams are online until 9pm, usually working 12 hr days. I’m worried that this will be like consulting all over again as I get more plugged in to the work 😭 this is a research & analytics firm on east coast btw. They do have lots of deployments and business on the west coast - but hoping it’s not the norm.
