No.
You are better of working on other things. Going for this app cycle? Get a head start on research, essays (as they come out), let your LoRs know, fix your resume.
Network while you are at it!
Anything above 750+ doesn’t really matter. You already proved to the ad comms that you are academically prepared. Re-taking for a score above 750 would just be doing it for the bragging rights.
Coach
This is the correct answer.
The only scenario where you can consider retaking is if you UG GPA sucks. Then if you can go for higher it might help. But if your GPA is fine or higher, use the time for other things. The application is a grind!
(Fwiw, OP, I was in your bucket. Got 760 and was a little disappointed bc I had got a 770 on a practice test. But it’s a really microscopic difference in the grand scheme of your app)
Retake, aim for 800
Be careful of the optics of retaking a 760 - ad coms may perceive it as a lack of self awareness (particularly if jump is only 760 to 770)

Agree with BCG 1 here. It’s not that ad comms know everything and look into every detail, but it can be perceived as a negative.
For the Bain individual - anything above 750+ would hold the same value. Plus a 760 in one year could be 770 in the next. Remember that GMAT scores are based on 3-year moving averages. So example a Q50 and V50 in 2019 would be 800. But the same score breakdown today is 780.
760 gmat score is already in 99%ile. Spend the $250 and the 3 exams hours or other portion of the application.
I think if you have the bandwidth / time then definitely take it. Yes GMAT is a checkbox but a 770 is a real differentiator vs. a 750 and schools are obsessed with rankings, of which GMAT is a big factor. Also, at 770 you are in scholarship territory (assuming you get in first).
However, if you’re short on time and still have loads to do on your essays/recs/story, then probably focus on those instead of retaking.
I never said you can’t get a scholarship with a 760. This also depends a lot on your background (eg,. are you an Indian male where the GMAT average is more likely to be 750 and a 760 is suddenly not as impressive?)
All I’m saying is - if you have the time, bandwidth and motivation to do it again and think you can get a higher score then go for it. If you don’t, then focus on other parts of the app. However, giving a blanket “no you shouldn’t” isn’t really helpful imo without knowing more about the OP or their circumstances.
Mentor
Absolutely shocked that people are saying you shouldn’t. If you’ve truly scored higher on every practice, especially if you’ve hit 790 or consistently hit 780, I would absolutely retake. No downside at all assuming you don’t waste time continuing to study
Yes your ego needs this
You made it to the 99th percentile. Congrats. The box is checked. Focus elsewhere.
Coach
790
You will not get rejected anywhere because of your 760. You more than exceed the “bar” so getting a 770 or 780 is not going to wow them any more than a 760.
