I have an offer from Product based firm with 55% hike(45% is fixed & rest 10% is variable).

Now my current company(HCL) wanted to retain me especially my skip level manger & they are offering only 35% hike as fixed & 10% as variable. I am not sure what to choose ..?

Your current company offering you a hike only after you are letting them know you have an offer or are leaving is a problem in and of itself. They obviously weren’t paying you what you’re worth to them and will continue to do so in the future or look to replace you once they find a good candidate. Past advice I’ve seen has always said to take the new opportunity.

Let us know where you ended up!

1. Taking the counter offer RARELY works out well for the employee in the long run.

2. Product companies TEND to be a lot better working conditions than consulting companies.

My post is for a lot of folks here who complain about managers not budging to negotiations and not offering package ,what you are expecting.I have one thing to say, there are lot of ibm employees who moved to kyndryl. Inspite of lot of contributions they are earning meagre salary. Now do you expect these people to hire you for more package most of time the package you are demanding is more than what these managers draw. So pls do not look at kyndryl as any other startup.Thanks.

I am a contract employee that was just brought on a month ago. I have done well with onboarding and learning their tech. I have now been asked to design an architecture for an upcoming project, and document it all. Nothing at this company has been well documented before. I have a feeling they just planning to use my previous experience and then let me go since my pay is high. Is there a way I can safeguard against this?

Does anyone have any advice for a junior C++ engineer. Or do companies generally don't hire a specific language. You just have to take on whatever code work is available. Are you specifically hired for a particular tech in your company? Or most of the time you just end up not doing it at all?

Serious question from a happy software engineer, what do you all love about your work/actually enjoy doing during working hours?

I'll start; I'm privileged enough to have been given the opportunity to work and learn deeply on Linux and Kubernetes, and I get to tinker and play with them all day. Problem solving with them is a "fun" part of my job.

Of course most things aren't roses and sunshine, but I'd love to hear the positive parts of what you are doing, or what you like to do at work.

So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
