#stepuptothetable is about helping local restaurants who are struggling during these times. I have seen numerous linkedin posts with videos where people challenge each other to step up to the table & buy meals & gift cards from their community restaurants. A great way for those of us who are more fortunate to support business & keep people employed.

Classic mistakes:
1. He doesn't delegate, but is also stressed that his hours have gone up a ton. Meanwhile I'm going crazy because I have so little to do and can feel my brain atrophying. When I offer to load balance, he claims that his tasks are indivisible.
2. He needs to be included in all the meetings I'm in, even though he doesn't actually edit my work and often derails the calls.
3. I'm driving the work on the projects I lead. And yet he forgets to loop me into ad-hoc calls where those projects are discussed. So feedback comes through an inefficient game of telephone.
Before everyone jumps on me that maybe I need this level of micro-management, I assure you this is definitely a him problem not a me problem. Just need to a venue to vent because at this point, it's become so bad that it's laughable.

Counsel 1, I think we are living the same life!

Update: had the conversation with my boss. Ended up telling him in not so many words that he was micromanaging me. He definitely took it to heart - I'm a little worried he'll swing too far the other way and be like, i need to be completely hands off (which maybe I like 😬) but definitely a step in the right direction.

Update 2: now the boss is super sensitive on whether he's being micromanaging or not. But he fundamentally doesn't know which of his behaviors are the problem. I continue to now just give direct feedback on what his problematic behaviors are, as I've reached the frustration level of zero f*cks to give.
I'm also seriously considering asking my boss's boss in an upcoming one-on-one, whether I can directly report to him come the new year. I think my boss's boss will be hiring and greatly expanding our function, at which point I will still remain the only person that is one layer removed. Thoughts?
I've also started looking for a new job. So not much to lose.

Counsel, so sorry to hear that. Eesh, I'll have to see how my request goes (stayed tuned for Update 3!)
Really appreciate everyone's comments. Makes me feel like I'm not alone in this! 😄
