You haven’t even met her? Overthinking at its finest!
It’s probably too late. Should tell the partner on the case that you can no longer work on the matter
You hit it, split it, peace
Ugh. Gross.
You just started talking? Are you not capable of not talking about work?
Are you a member of some bar association? They often have free ethic hotlines .
I actually reached out to some lawyer friends for insight just now and I mentioned that I was going to call the bar ethics hotline tomorrow morning and they laughed at me lol. I just started chatting with this girl tonight and she just told me where she works
I worked for years with a managing partner of an AmLaw top 50 whose husband led multiple practice groups at a lead competitor. Meet up, see what happens. If you need to establish screens, you can look at options, there are many.
I get it. I would be spooked by the appearance of impropriety. I don’t know how or when to handle disclosure though but I don’t think you can go on very long without disclosure.
this is why I do not match with other lawyers. You haven’t even met yet is work the only thing you’re going to talk to her about?
So I actually am dating a guy who works for a firm client (big ntl bank). Tbh I don’t see an issue with it since I’ve never currently personally represented him, and if I followed this rule well basically there’d be no options since everyone is a firm client
