Idk, maybe it’s time we bring these engineers and techs down. If my 🧠 links to a 💻 , all of my non-billable work will come to light. 😤

God help us all. Terminators, except with human capriciousness. We’re doomed.

Though my billables will skyrocket with all my nightmares about work.

Good god could they just ****ing not? 🙄 As if the biggest problem we have in the world is not having computers linked to our brains. What about fixing cancer or climate change?

No, sir. Those would be problems worth fixing. This, this is marketable in some bizarre way. I wish the older tech folks gained the wisdom not to do things. The young geniuses that think this stuff up have an idealist hope not bound by human treachery. In future people will be like “I didn’t know it would turn out like this.” Despite everyone saying it’s a bad idea lol

I currently work at a medium sized firm and have about two years experience in personal injury litigation. Does anyone have experience working for a ALSP? How does compensation work (pay and benefits)? Are you an employee or technically an IC? Do you have billable requirements like at a firm? I am currently a gov attorney at a major metro area in the northeast. I recently received an offer from a ID private firm (1900 billable hours) in the area for about 40k more than my currently salary. I was going to accept, but now I’m having second thoughts about leaving a secure gov job with good benefits. Really not sure what to do.

Did the billable hours bonus not get paid out today? Or is it to be paid in the next check?

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.

Received a job offer. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a concern I had about it. It's an entry level position, and I don't have much experience. The billables are 2040 a year. For billable hours in civil litigation and insurance defense, is 2040 hours for a 1st year associate on the high end in this field for a small or midsize firm? It seems like most attorneys I know have minimum requirements of around 1800. The compensation is around 80k a year.

Transactional associate. Lateraled 6 months ago and one of the biggest pain points has been my new firm’s inclination to “hop on a call”, which of course requires every single stakeholder to join. The end result being every call has 25 people on it and nothing actually gets done because no one wants to ask a question that could come off as silly. It’s destroying my ability to get anything done during the day. It’s a complete performance and it drives me nuts.
