As an ‘argh this surely isn’t great’ diagram, it works well for shock factor! I’d expect it to be followed up with a colour code (these ones all go green as they are duplicates that can be removed, these go blue as can be combined…or something). You could also Google ‘sankey diagram’ for an idea about how you could present it in a more clustered way that might be easier to make summaries from
It depends on the people.
I had a slide that looks like your image. I called it the spaghetti monster. And I led a discussion about failure points.
It was a healthy conversation. I finally understood why my customer had little energy to focus on improving the process.

That is exactly how I am thinking of telling this story... With a preface - if this flow looks bad, it's not my diagramming skills, that's how messed up the process is 😀
I am sure you can do better than that. The diagram seems to be a little confusing at first look. Maybe because of how you place the lines. But I am pretty sure you can do better.
Knowing how to create and show a clear flow is invaluable. I didn’t know how until I had my former director coach the life out of me. I learned a lot from online how-to as well.
I think you can do better, and would start by trying to straighten up the lines. Imagine having to present this to someone on a power point, and try to keep each segment of your map clear and concise.

That's helpful, thanks! I envy you for having had someone at work to coach you..
I would show it if you're gonna preface it with, this is messy...but also, I would play around with different diagrams, mostly because it helps you organize your thoughts anyway and I think there might be a less messy thing to show them.
