I feel as it’s a warning sign. Just think about it. Retail I feel shouldn’t be fast paced and definitely not hospitality. Service in a timely manner would sound better to me than fast paced. I avoid the fast paced jobs. Also from my experience they don’t pay well.

That’s a good point! Maybe restaurants, but not retail or hospitality.
It's a phrase that honestly doesn't mean a lot to me in general. It could mean so many things and it's kind of a cliché at this point. Very few jobs referred to themselves as slow-paced, relaxed environments.

Suppose if it was slow paced they wouldn't need to hire anyone! 😜
Just went to an interview for a expediting position in a kitchen. I was told it was extremely fast paced and extremely busy. They have teens working there. I have ober 10 years experience in other restraunts and busy enviornments. The interviewer still seemed like I didnt understand how busy they get and how fast paced it was and that like others I would be overwhelmed and quit within the first few days. I cannot catch a break for real. Lol im not afraid of fast paced environments and I thrive. Seems like interviewers cant trust the word of people anymore because to many are lyong on their applications.

I think a lot of people read that as a polite way of saying the place runs lean. Sometimes it really does mean energetic and busy, but other times it means the team is constantly stretched. Usually you can tell which one it is during the interview.

I usually read it as a warning sign. “Fast paced” can mean exciting, but in retail it often translates to being short staffed and constantly rushed. It depends on how the team and management actually handle the pace.
