I often am asked to lead projects but struggle to get stakeholders to agree on the goals. Because of the leadership logjam among the product owners, product managers, business leaders I am left confused as to what is really required for deliverables. Has anyone tips and insights to offer to navigate out of this mess? Because I could be made the scapegoat for the project falling behind schedule.

Welcome to project mgmt. it is not as easy as people think it is and PMs are always the scapegoat. Before the project kicks off, you need a project doc like modern charter that clearly outlines the objectives/goals of the project, and the contributing teams and key stakeholders, then work through requirements, dependencies, risks, etc. define deliverables, create a schedule or get them into sprints, and them work like hell to keep everyone on-track, aligned, engaged, informed, and happy until the end product is delivered.

Yep this comment here.

First question that should be answered is who is asking you? That will help define what you can realistically do. Can't answer the rest without it. If it is your CIO/CTO, that gives a lot more sway. If it's a team leader, not so much

Getting over heartbreak and having a full time job is torture lol. My boyfriend and I just broke up after almost a year of being together. My body hurts, my stomach is in knots, my head hurts. How is it that I have to mend a broken heart but also meet my billable hours lmao

Tech companies who have gone remote since the pandemic: do you get a stipend for home internet or a mobile hot spot for when your home internet goes out? Some of my employees are having issues that directly impact their ability to join customer calls, but my company’s IT department doesn’t offer any support. Wondering if that’s still the norm.

After onboarding, it’s as if my team forgets about us every day. I don’t want to waste time (colleagues mentioned it doesn’t get much better from here). Do I embrace the suck or look for other opportunities?

Hey everyone - I could do with some advice. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I am having a hard time getting interview calls. I am trying to pivot from consulting to the industry and targeting project/program management roles. I have been doing this work for 7+ years now (total YOE 12 years) so certainly have the right skillset. I have tried a couple of referrals too but that didn’t help either. Any advice you guys could provide would be helpful. Thanks!

What are your thoughts on the Scrum Master role? I’ve worked with a few now and out of 5 of them, only 1 seemed to be of any help. Most of the time we have to explain every detail multiple times and they still don’t understand what we’re doing. I feel that the role should be reserved for employees with experience in the systems they work in.

Hi all! Looking for some advice please!
I am looking to stir my career into a Project Management role. I have some work experience in managing IT Projects but don't have the title. Is working towards a PMP Certificate worth investing time and money in worth it or should I just apply for a PM role?
Thank you in advance!

I’m a Junior product manager with a Master’s in Healthcare Management. I feel like the current company that I am at has my title as JPM, but I am doing PM work i.e creating product roadmaps, collaborating across stakeholders (business, marketing, design teams), creating user stories/features, etc. and I feel like my work isn’t being valued and I’m constantly being micromanaged by business teams expectations.

How feasible is it for me to apply to a PM role with less than a year of experience?

Hey y'all, kind of a two part question:
1. I enjoy the people management more than individual contributor stuff. What career paths do you see in our industry for people who are managing support engineering teams?
2. What certifications are valued today? Seems like being a AWS Cloud Practitioner is a good general one, but are there others that stand out?
