AWS cloud application architect. Had an on-site interview with AWS a few days ago and just got an email saying they want to talk to me about next steps. The role is cloud application architect but I want to ask them about the senior cloud application architect role. I have all the relevant experience for that role and feel like I’d be a better fit for that senior role. How should I approach this conversation? Is this even possible? Amazon

Pmp may help get your foot in the door if you are blindly applying online but honesty referrals will get you the interview faster. PMP was never brought up in my experience and honesty not that useful…digital projects are mostly run via scaled agile these days…
Thank you for your time! Can I DM you some further questions please ?
If you’re looking to improve your skillset, the PMP will not help you. It’s not practical and focuses on the philosophy of project management, not tangible skills. However, I do think my PMP has helped me get noticed. If that’s all you want, I think its worth it. But if you want actual skills, I’d look at a training program. Lots of universities offer 6-9 month certificates in Project Management which are great. I have both my PMP and a certificate. I always recommend going for the certificate first.
As others said, only helpful if there is no other experience on your resume to back up your project management skills.
