Get some good shoes! I like Brooks.
Rising Star
2nd this. Good supportive shoes.
Workout everyday, eat a clean consistent diet, you have an entire class to carry supplies, stop crouching next to desks, make them walk up to your standing desk.
Pro
Take a couple of yoga classes- find out which stretches you need the most and start doing them daily.
Sneakers every day!! Even if it looks crazy with my professional outfit I’m always in sneakers. I find stretching before school to be helpful for my mental health but I’m sure it’s got some physical benefits! Core strength is important too!!
It really, really should. I'm so drained by the end of every day, physically and mentally. Good shoes are essential. Shoe inserts are great as well if you have specific foot problems. I have fallen arches and need custom orthotics in every pair of shoes I own to keep from aching. I also get monthly massages. It's a little expensive, but so worth it in my opinion.
Our teacher’s provided health insurance covers 48 massages a year as long as they are recommended for treatment by a chiropractor. I use every one of them.
Dansko clogs and sneakers. I read somewhere that you should switch off your shoes so that they get a day to "breathe". I have found it makes a difference, even though I can't remember the reason why. Also the pedometer thing and making a game of it.
I used to do yoga and kickboxing, but my gym closed and I haven't found another one.
My jacuzzi.
On cloud shoes saved me
I like to wear a smart watch and track my steps, calories burned, etc.! It makes it a fun game and a few of us like to compare who got more steps in. If it feels like a workout, which most days it is, may as well embrace it and keep track of your stats!
Arch supports. My nurse friend swears by them and nurses are on their feet ALWAYS!
Shoes as mentioned. Don't expect that alone to save you though.
Standing in front of the class is harder on your back than walking around. Walk as much as possible. Exercise, stretch and focus on core strengthening outside of school.
Also consider a yoga ball chair. Make sure you learn the correct posture to sit on one.
