I think respect should be given to all living things. Many say it doesn’t work like that, respect should be earned in this industry.

Does that mean that you should accept mistreatment? To what extent?

For you as a junior what are you willing to not tolerate and at what point would you speak up?

I think this narrative comes from the idea that respect should be earned by leadership. Or in other words, you can command respect, but not demand it.

To demand respect is to tell others, “You will respect me!” or otherwise threaten or punish those who do not act according to your wishes. To command respect is to have others observe and admire your actions of their own volition.

Creative Direction is a skill not just a title. I had to learn the skill and prove I was capable, not just expect to be given the title.

As human beings, of course we all deserve a basic level of respect and should never accept mistreatment or abuse of any kind. That’s not industry-specific.

I think the last two sentences really brought me a lot of clarity. You need to earn your title & not feel entitled to it to earn the respect where people admire you.
And you’re saying no one should be disrespected in the form of abuse

I’m in alignment

No, it doesn't. It means you shouldn't grovel to leadership unless they've proved they're worth it. It's got nothing to do with accepting abuse IMO.

Love this differentiation, I agree completely. Thanks for ur perspective helps me understand what this respect thing in the workplace means

Recruiters, is it frowned upon for candidates to reach out to you on DM on Linkedin? Or does it show that they’re more interested than just submitting an application?

I am currently a medical biller and coder that just graduated. I am currently in an entry level position because I am still studying to get certified. I will have a year's work of exp in July and will sign a contract for another year because my boss is training me in more I don't know.

I'm wondering what the pay is for someone in my position without certification. I live with family and want to afford to move out but I am single and only make $18/hr. Is that standard or am I being underpaid?

Anyone have any good contacts at ARC? I’ve been trying to get in with no response ( account management)

Our 5 month old started daycare about 5 weeks ago. We’ve already had to keep her home for 2.5 of those 5 weeks due to catching various illnesses (croup, rsv, brinchiolitis, etc). Both my wife and I have been sick most of that time as well (gotten it from the baby). Wife is thinking we get a full time nanny for the next 4 months to help the baby build antibodies. Cost aside, is this feasible / worthwhile to go thru the effort / finding the right fit, only for 4 months?
