Our 5 month old started daycare about 5 weeks ago. We’ve already had to keep her home for 2.5 of those 5 weeks due to catching various illnesses (croup, rsv, brinchiolitis, etc). Both my wife and I have been sick most of that time as well (gotten it from the baby). Wife is thinking we get a full time nanny for the next 4 months to help the baby build antibodies. Cost aside, is this feasible / worthwhile to go thru the effort / finding the right fit, only for 4 months?

I think if you can find the right nanny, it absolutely could be worth it! your list of illnesses alone sounds like It’d be a great way forward. I have an 11 month old and apart from eczema and a few minor viral fevers, he hasn’t been exposed to anything. Wife & I both stay indoors and try to minimize contact with anyone except family

What is it that you would expect to change in 4 months? Your little one may build up their immune system but they will, in all likelihood, still pick up those bugs in daycare once they go back.

I feel you. My kid started nursery at 14 months and the first two months have been hellish so far - we basically take it in turns for being ill.

They say the first year is like this until they build their immune system.

You could take your child out of daycare now, but that's only kicking the can down the road for later.

Im a RN and took on a new role working in Home Health. I chose this position because My husband & I recently moved to PA with our 2 kids (1&3), with no family available for his residency program with a hospital. If you know that life, I’m pretty much the main parent for our kids. I don’t want to work in the hospital/floor work anymore; nor do I believe the hrs are flexible enough. I need a job that’s flexible for the kids but pays >$44/hr. Maybe remote or hybrid? Please help w/ suggestions.

How would you respond to this note sent home on my toddler’s daily report from her in-home daycare provider. Mind you she didn’t say anything to me in person about this. My ex-wife is suggesting sending our 3 year old to a early school program, from 7am-5pm. Which I think is too long for a 3 year old. Any perspectives on this from other parents? Thanks

We recently sleep trained our 7 month son. He went from waking up multiple times during night and taking only 30 minute naps 3 times during day (most cases nursed to sleep or rocked to sleep or took a drive) to sleeping 12 hours at night without interruption and two 2 hour naps and one 45 minutes nap during day. We both love that he is getting enough sleep and well rested on one hand. On the other hand, we are now wondering if he is sleeping way too much.. contd…
