I used to be hungry. Now I feel like I’m stuck on autopilot. I’m doing good work, hitting my hours, getting polite nods from partners… but no promotions, no real feedback, no sense that I’m moving forward. It’s like I’m just existing in the system. Is this normal for mid-levels, or is it a sign I need to start looking for a new path before I get too comfortable?

If it feels like a dead end, it probably is. Firms love to milk reliable associates without offering growth—leave before they convince you to settle.

Is this a bad thing for you? Like, if it’s a good job with good comp, what else is missing?

Probably enjoying work? Being fulfilled about the job? Having a good day?

I am in the process of IVF due to my husband's male factor infertility. I am so grateful for the benefits that EY provides and wanted to know if there is any consideration for reevaluating those benefits? We know that IVF is incredibly expensive and for some of us, having children is a top priority. Does anyone know where or how we can petition for enhanced or shared benefits? I have ideas.

If buy the partners you work with regularly a holiday gift, how much do you spend? Usually I get baked goods or food items which you can’t tell the actual amount spent on. This year, though, I’d like to support local restaurants by encouraging people to order takeout—hence, giving gift cards.

How much is appropriate for a restaurant gift card from an associate to a partner?

how do we get out?! i’ve been doing office work in a grocery store for too long… this was supposed to help me transition out of hospitality but it feels like i’m going to be stuck in a grocery store for the rest of my career
i guess i just need to voice my frustrations. it’s not that i hate my job or the field, i don’t. i’m just feeling extremely overwhelmed and discouraged i think. does anyone really, truly enjoy what they do in retail/hospitality?? needing some positivity

Quite curious, why are there so little dining places in SoMa given the number of high risers here?

Looks like a place with high concentration of middle class just asking to be served, but the are is mostly dead in the evening.

How many billable hours per week is considered at capacity? I’m getting pushback on boundaries I’m setting about additional matters and marketing work from my firm when I’ve been billing 60-75 hours per week for the last 6 weeks, and I’m still behind on my work. I feel like it’s reasonable to not kill myself further to fit in more/turn things around faster at this point, but am I being unreasonable? I expect my workload to remain at this level through the end of the year at least.
