I was fired after working for company for 26 years in the job had was very specialized so I’m having a very hard time trying to find some more job because there’s just no one out there. Taking care of my father at home while he’s in hospice cause we not to be able to take training and slip on my job duties. That’s how I ended up getting fired. I just don’t know what to do now.

I’m really sorry you’re going through that. I think you may need a career pivot, something flexible and cushy to allow you to balance personal life and work.

Hello, I'm hearing product management is the space to be if you want to see a considerable bump in pay. What is the path forward to reach that role? I have experience as a project manager, scrum master, and BA and I was hoping these combined could land me a product manager role, but it seems like companies require extensive prior experience as a product manager already - so, what is the best way to get my foot into that role?

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.

Hi everyone am new to fishbowl and this is my first post so please bear with me.
I am in the phase of career transition from being a RF test Engineer/test engineer into the cybersecurity space and looking for hands-on training to hone new skills to prepare for real life job experience.

I accepted an offer for a new job starting in January but haven’t heard from anyone since completing my background and drug test? Should I follow up or is this the norm?
