I worked in research but recently due to the departure of a colleague, I've been called to lead Operations. Their abrupt departure means there was no handover.

I'll be working with teams to understand progress on all of our projects as well as working with upper management to understand priorities.

This will be a completely new team and I haven't worked in the field for a few years. Any recommendations on what I should focus on or look out for in my first few weeks?
