I would love to get some feedback from you ladies who have held both leadership positions with and without direct reports. Some days when I start work, I want to do just that. Add a leader with direct reports, I always have to think about my team, which I absolutely love, but it can be a lot at times. I'm thinking maybe I should seek a product or program management position instead.

So many pros and cons! When I had a role without a team to oversee, it was nice to just come in and focus on myself. It was a big adjustment to have people that I need to be thinking about every day, somedays I wouldn’t trade it for the world, other days I can’t get out of here fast enough 😂

I took a demotion for exactly this reason. Almost 4 years managing a large team and I couldn't do it anymore. I missed the "boring" routine work of being an employee and not having to worry about anything but putting in my 8 hours. It has been two years and I don't regret a thing. Wasn't much of a pay decrease either (I changed companies when I took a lower position and it's hard not to love those new hire salaries).

If I receive an offer in Austin but end up moving to NYC in the future, does google adjust the compensation? From my understanding I will receive a lower offer based on my location but curious if they apply the same logic to moves after joining?

I have applied to one of the roles about 10 days back and I didn't recieve any calls regarding my screening or interview.

Can someone tell me how many days does it take for the initial screening to happen after applying.
