Those are great when your starting out but I’ve met a lot of adjusters and UWs with letters after their names who suck at their job. Nothing beats plain ole experience and a good mentor.

It’s not a requirement. It will be helpful to get after a few years of experience and hopefully your employer will be paying for it. There are some other earlier certs you should look at first, AU or ARM.

Most people who work in underwriting aren't CPCU certified. When I worked in underwriting, I wasn't and most of my coworkers weren't either. It isn't something that you have to get by any means.

Hi all,

My boss makes jokes about me being from a different country whenever there is a work meeting or a gathering with coworkers, even though he knows where I am from. This usually occurs when I meet new work-related people or for example if I am in a situation that involves ethnic related subjects.

What is this? This is normal?

Stereotyping?
Racism?

The first time I ignored that, but now it has become a pattern and is bothering me now. I am south-American working in the UK.

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
