What a toxic place…so glad I’m not there anymore. Incompetent leadership at the helm was the start of their downfall. It’s unfortunate that people’s livelihoods are affected by the mass layoffs now.

Glad I’m not the only one who feels the same way. I’m really over being gaslit into thinking we’re gods gift to earth for selling what should be a human right.

It’s time to become independent and work for yourself! Earn your worth in the insurance field. So many limitations to with being a captive insurance agent. Money and job security are examples of this!

It’s a poorly kept secret they pay well under market value.

Oh wow how come they did that?

Oh wow that’s crazy

Very sorry to hear that. None that I’m aware of but it’s indicative of the broader market/economic outlook.

With the current trend of increases in interest rates there’s no cheap money anymore, the market is hardening and many companies are probably examining what they need to do to come out of this recession stronger.

I saw them coming from a mile away. For now I was not one of them but I have been sprucing up my resume to look for greener pastures.

CONTRACTORS: I have a quickfire round of questions because I'm really trying to get back into setting good habits now that I'm consulting full-time again.

How do you typically go about preparing your day?

1) What's your process?

2) What are some MUSTs you prioritize each day to maintain your work-life balance, mental health, etc. (i.e., phones/email notifications off after X PM; no work on the weekends, etc)

3) Must haves/dos for productivity and time management?

Thanks in advance!

Hi all! I posted here a couple months ago right after getting laid off. It’s been almost 3 months of applying, and no luck. I am starting to get worn out, and I feel the imposter syndrome creeping in. I feel like I need to revamp my resume again. Anyone interested in looking at it? I am looking for operations, project management, or program management roles.

Job transition question: I recently accepted an offer for a new role with Merrill Lynch, the following day I was fired from my previous employer. I haven’t filled out the updated work history background check info yet. The reason for termination was due to performance expectations not being met. Should I reach out to my new employer and let them know that I’ve been terminated? Should I just put the termination update on the background check form and leave it at that? Wondering what I should do.

Hey ladies! I started a new role back in September, fresh out of college. In this role I often have to communicate with acct managers + I’ve noticed that they often question/screen me before letting me to do my job. I’ve asked around + others that I started with don’t experience this. I wonder if my “black name” is apart of this. I have always loved my name and displayed it but lately I’ve been wondering if it’s hindering me? For ref, my name is common for blk women but spelled differently.

Has anyone successfully negotiated a title? I was looking for Senior Manager positions but applied for some Mgr positions too. I’m up for promo next year at my current job as well. The current industry offer meets my comp expectation but planning to see if they would bring me in as a senior manager. There isn’t a set hierarchy for the team as of right now as they are building the team and I’d be reporting to a senior executive. Any talking points/tips that might help me negotiate?

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!

Do any carriers in Europe pay salaries equal to their American counterparts? I’ve found that the salary for my role is pretty much halved across the Atlantic.

I know that my company, Chubb, does and from time to time they have rotational programs where not only do you maintain your US salary but you also get COLA and a housing allowance, unfortunately nothing right now nor permanent.

Another option would be insurance companies that pay your American salary while working abroad.

I've been at my current company for 15 years and 17 in the insurance industry. I'm struggling to even get a callback to interview. In a year, I've had one callback. I've sought out input on my resume from folks at the Executive level and there aren't any red flags. Am I just too entrenched and the long tenure scares employers or what?
