If someone went in house general counsel and climbed to one of the highest roles - would they make close to what a partner earns? Do in house attorneys touch millions or cap at 500k?

Depends on the company…GC at Apple took home $27mm last year.

like

Go look at their 10K/Proxy Statement.

like

There’s a lot of variability, but most GCs of even medium size companies will have total comp beyond 500k. The large money is in equity and the cash portion will pretty much always be smaller than a large firm partner.

like

They must. I’m 6 YOE making like 400k+

Very team dependent. The folks working on AI are super busy; other more mature products can be a bit quieter. Definitely not a sleepy job, but can’t complaint about the substantive work or the compensation

like

If you get the top spot of a public company that is definitely possible.

You can look at public company’s 10K/Proxy Reports as well - some have the GC/CLO as a named executive, some don’t. It will give you an idea based on industry/company size. As GC said above, a lot will be tied into equity/stock options. Highest base I’ve seen for a GC/CLO is $1mm base.

Hardly we can see Foreign Editorial things marked with Packages.

I’ve got about 20 years cross channel experience in marketing, split between big brands and startups, and I’m considering pivoting into a data science/data analyst role. I know it will initially be a step back in comp but is it at all realistic for a person with certificate level experience in data analysis but a decent marketing management background to expect $150-200k comp or is that mostly for degreed candidates (or not realistic at all)? Any guidance here is greatly appreciated.

Does anyone enjoy lender work? If so, what about it did you find appealing? I’ve somehow been saddled with all the lender work at my firm (despite never having expressed an interest in it and having no experience with it) and it’s miserable. Having said that, our other practice areas are slowing down significantly and I don’t know if I want to rock the boat. Any advice would be much appreciated!

How are 1st year litigation associates dealing with WFH? I’ve been having terrible anxiety/panic attacks, and pretty sure my billables wont exceed 110 for April. I’ve been super stressed about it and don’t know how to move on to May with the proper mindset to make up for as much time missed as possible. CA courts are still closed, and I’m worried I won’t be able to exceed (or even meet) my May goal after April.

Last associates committee meeting is coming up. Partners have asked each associate to come up with... not one... but FIVE marketing ideas. Other than reeling out “we offer competitive pay” in job postings, what are some good ones your firm does?

I’m struggling a bit. If I knew how to market well, I certainly wouldn’t be in this position.

Anyone know when Ch. 7 BKs must close by? Is this changed by when there are adversary proceedings (alleged fraudulent transfers made to a bank for CC payments)? Asking for my friend who is unfortunately involved bc of his parents, who are the debtors (he isn’t a defendant or a debtor in this, but the payments were made to a CC in his name—a CC he didnt know was opened in his name).
