How are 1st year litigation associates dealing with WFH? I’ve been having terrible anxiety/panic attacks, and pretty sure my billables wont exceed 110 for April. I’ve been super stressed about it and don’t know how to move on to May with the proper mindset to make up for as much time missed as possible. CA courts are still closed, and I’m worried I won’t be able to exceed (or even meet) my May goal after April.

See what other valuable additions you can make to firm even if it’s non-billable. I would think most management would understand given the situation that production is going to be lower than expected - or at least that is what we are doing. But, if you’re having problems finding work then see if there’s an old marketing presentation that needs to be updated. Volunteer to do a blog post on something relevant to your practice for the firm’s website if you have one. Have an open conversation with your in-firm mentor about other ways you can help.

Im in the same boat! Ive been at this new firm for few months, coming from a non-billing practice, and I'm barely getting any hours. Asking for work has been like pulling teeth! No one has any thing to give, everyone is looking for work, but yet I'm still getting hassled. Plus, the firm made significant pay cuts.

I have been seeing all of these "studies" saying that many people prefer working in the office versus working from home... I'm doubting these results and want to conduct my own little poll.
Do you prefer:
A) Working from Home
B) Working from the Office
C) Hybrid

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

Anyone work at ProAssurance/MedMarc? Have potential to move for 25% higher salary and fully remote work, but wondering if there’s advancement opportunity and how the culture is. Thanks!

Hey guys, I am CA having post qualification experience of 2.5 years. My last one year experience has been with Deloitte USI as an audit senior associate. I am looking for work from home options. Preferred working areas are audit and direct taxation. Can anyone help.

Anyone here adopt a puppy during the infertility struggle? Husband and I considering it to have something positive throughout this situation and thinking the extra companionship would be helpful. I work from home. Husband has had many family dogs and lots of experience with it, I’ve had a family cat before. But not sure if it’s actually a good idea - wondering if it would truly help make us feel better and keep our minds off of the struggles or if it would just add extra stress. Thoughts?

I’m at a midsize firm in the Midwest and I’ve noticed that we’ve hired multiple associates who all graduated law school the same year. Some are coming from clerkships, other firms, etc., but they’re all on the same graduation year. This feels like it’s setting up a squeeze down the road for these folks with respect to partnership. Is there something I’m missing or is this something that will cause issues down the road?

I’ve been with firms for 6 years. I struggle (not that I’m not intellectually capable of doing this job), I just hate the detail oriented nature of this industry. Everything gets scrutinized so carefully and most things I stayed up late for doesn’t matter.

I just got PIP talk and they are pushing me out next year. I’m kinda relieved. I want to leave law completely and be someone on the operation side. Eventually I want to be an COO.
