I’m a product director. I’m 50, have twin boys that are 13. I am ready to move up and these specific roles I am interested are either in NYC or Seattle and I am in ATL. Don’t want to relocate family there. I feel like this is my turn to invest in my career, I am getting older, which does not goes well with tech companies. I love what I do. Have you taken a job in another state? How did you manage?

Yes, I moved with Amazon to NYC from Atlanta with 3 kids. It was a nice way to relocate, total support in moving our lives to another state. NYC is a great place if you are focused on your career. 10x better than Atlanta, with networking opportunities galore. We landed in Brooklyn and the kids love it here. My teenager couldn’t imagine ever moving back. The public transportation, activities, and general opportunities are more than she’d ever have access to in Atlanta.

So I was offered a role in Strategy Consulting in after 2 years in Risk Consulting however, after 2 years I’ve only worked on Internal audit engagements few ad hocs such as updating risk register and the delegation of authority matrix.

Honestly speaking I am doing good and I am up for promotion in October however I am not fully enjoying my time but I fear that the move would not be a good and I can’t hit the ground running which scares me.

Any advice and past experiences in such career shit?

How do you keep up/in touch with your network? Mine barely post anything on LinkedIn, so commenting on their posts is out of the question, and apparently it's impolite to just message or email them if the job searcher doesn't have anything to share besides asking for a referral or opening. If I don't have any relevant information to share with them, what should I do?

Hi Fishes,

Need some suggestions from everyone. I have 4.5 years experience and I was working as contractor in ZS and my CTC in parent company was 7 Lakhs.

ZS were willing to offer me FTE as ZS but at a compensation of meagre 8.5 Lakhs. I tried negotiating but they sticked with this.

How come ZS do that? Why can't they pay more as they generally pay 15+ for 4.5 years experience.

EY FAAS vs KPMG AAS, which one is better?
