To grow within a stagnant position, take advantage of the free courses they provide (even unrelated to your current position) and it will broaden your career spectrum. For example, even though I work finance, I became certified in geographical information systems, software applications, cybersecurity, and more through courses provided by previous employment. The result of that is now being qualified within subcategories of finances and potential lateral career changes. This allows you to become a hybrid candidate with many branches instead of one strict straight line branch with limited growth. This is also one of the ways I branched out to finance as an agricultural science degree holder. Internal initiative equals external results. Good luck on your endeavors!
I’ve heard several people say they had to do this for career growth. If you stay stagnant you risk being laid off and/or having your role eliminated when business priorities shift. Speaking from my own experience. If your company hasn’t fully adopted AI yet I would learn as much as I could and be the go to person.
Rising Star
Agreed. AI has been emphasized heavily at my company. I am also trying to learn as much as I can about AI as backup.
