Do the heights. We toured Midtown at 28 and were greeted by a homeless man in nothing but a hospital gown on a stolen bike share bike right next to the leasing office. We immediately started looking in the heights and were quite happy there.
Pro
Would also look at Montrose area
Here’s a tip. Go at night at different times And during different days of the week.
The heights if you want to experience community, walkable neighborhoods, dog parks, young families, and trendy bars and restaurants
Midtown if you want to experience late night noise, homeless people, drunk college kids, and being shot
Greater heights
Midtown is mostly 22-26 year olds
Crime has also increased in Midtown
Definitely not midtown. If you’re concerned about distance, Montrose is great (a bit more expensive, and a lot more options if you don’t want to live in a massive apartment complex, there are a lot of smaller units). Though Heights to Midtown is not far at all.
Ah crap guys, I mean to say Montrose. Lol no, I definitely don't want to LIVE in any building located in midtown. So, Montrose/Westheimer area or the heights? I do like an older neighborhood feel as long as it isn't run down or seedy.
Heights.
Still suggest heights over montrose (it’s cheaper in the heights, and heights has a more neighborhood feel), but the margin is smaller than heights vs midtown.
Hmm that ones not as clear cut as midtown vs heights. Montrose has a ton of restaurants and is more diverse than the heights (white predominantly). Heights might be slightly cheaper to rent though, Montrose has been a very popular destination for east/west coasters, driving rents above city average
Just moved into upper Heights area over the weekend and LOVE it! I looked at over 12 apartments before picking mine so if you have any questions, I’m happy to help!
1k a month is really hard, id think you’d need to spend atleast 1.4k for anything decent. i’ve been wrong before though.
Heights..
Hights or die. Everything else is manufactured culture
Pretty plenty of people would say Heights is also manufactured lol.
