Hello fellow introverts! Instead of talking to people I have an Instagram account to shout my opinions about books into the void. Id love it if any of you would be willing to take a look and give me feedback on the reviews. I feel like they aren't quite at the level I'm aiming for.

What field is everyone here working in?
Hmm. I’m attracted to engineers..

My first thought reading this is that the person who doesn't want to talk on the phone has probably been burned by talking on the phone. As annoying at chats are, at least they create a written record. Sometimes people remember things differently, so having conversations on the record can be a good idea.
Good point
I would explain to him that over the phone, at least once per day, is a must/mandatory for the team to solve quick things. DO you have a hurdle as a team? Then handle everything else over chat.
Agree
I was like that for a while, until I started to realize how much extra time was getting burned up with the back-and-forth messages, when a phone call would take a fraction of the time. I think people are just used to not getting on the phone now, so a gentle reminder might be nice that we can get through this. If it’s just documentation everyone is worried about, follow up with a message after the call.
Nice
I would probably take it case by case. Not every issue needs to be a phone call for the person who dreads phone calls, and not every question can be answered efficiently through a chat. I think it's best practice to get used to both depending on the scenario.

As an engineer, I've been stabbed in the back by people who prefer to talk to me rather than document their request. If you want to ask for something that doesn't affect the outcome, maybe a call will work, but if relates to the project, document it. I don't trust sales people because they have no problem lying to cover their ass when a situation arises. If this engineer is experienced, they will enforce documentation of requests, not only to hold you accountable, but to make it easier to verify they completed everything before turning it over. Stop being a baby and allow this engineer to collect data properly.
