I’m in a situation where one teammate isn’t contributing. We have to do two jobs because they’re slacking. This is maybe far fetched, but if budgets are tight, would it be reasonable to suggest reallocating that role’s salary to reward those actually doing the work? Has anyone brought something like this up before—and how did it go?

While I understand your position, I don’t know if that’s the best way to bring it up. If anything, I would bring up my workload and how best to prioritize all the tasks, leading to why I have so many tasks in the first place.

like

I’ll try to approach it that way. Thanks

I'm pretty sure that this was you leaning into getting this person fired right ? If so, then I also feel this isn't something you can suggest because that role will need to be replaced. The budget was set and written off by the executives or the owner or even a Board of Directors so its not as simple as moving the money around. I would just make sure that my portion of the work is flawless and be able to defend yourself if need by due to that person not contributing. Speak to their manager but dont complain bring it as feedback because its effecting your workload and let them look into it.

Yes, I was implying to get the person fired since they don’t contribute anything. If we’re already handling everything, not sure why we need them. You’re right that there’s probably more to it with budgets. But, they should figure it out. Lol

That’s really tricky to bring up - I would recommend trying to gently ask around about promotions / path to advancement from your role through highlighting how much you are contributing and see if that gets you any mileage

Thank you. I’ve started conversations about my path.

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?

Currently I work for a small company that does the construction of small cell utility poles and roof top sites for the major cell carriers like VZW, T-mobile, AT&T and so on. I am a project coordinator but I do everything under the sun. Created project tracker. Submitti bids, sourcing material, negotiating price on materials, handling post construction inspections, scheduling sub contractors, notifying stakeholders, coordinating with construction managers - property owners - building management.

Considering working from India for a couple of years due to personal reasons. Any advice for Salary expectations/negotiations? Haven't worked in India for over a decade.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?
