I'm leaving my firm to go in-house. What can I give as a nice goodbye gift to the people I was tight with? I wanted to pair it with a nice handwritten note.

Ohh I like the idea of an experience! I'll give it some more thought. Also love the idea of chocolate covered pretzels. Thanks!

This sounds silly, but someone once gave me chocolate covered espresso beans and yogurt covered pretzels before a trial (to have some caffeine and healthier snacks) and it was a delight. You could maybe get some in bulk and then get some nice jars and make little treats for everyone?

Exactly! If you’re feeling REALLY ambitious you could make some treats. I made all the staff homemade Christmas treats last year and it was a big hit. They were super appreciative that I took the time (but everything was easy!!).

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

Had a baby recently with some health issues which has prompted me to reevaluate my big firm associate life and consider in house. The issue is, I’m thinking of leaving right after/during maternity leave and feel very guilty. Do you think I should explain myself or just say I found another opportunity? I don’t want to burn bridges but also don’t think they are entitled to know everything about me.
