I'm moving to London the third week of January to start a new job. I haven't found an apartment yet and I'm currently abroad. I did find an Airbnb that's more affordable in Hemel Hempstead, but it's a ~35/45-minute walk to the train station. Do you think the weekly trek from Hemel into London to apartment hunt would get tiring? Should I look closer to London? I'd appreciate any tips or advice (really struggling here)!

Might be better off initially renting a room short term and living close to work. Once you are here you can explore the train network and find something of your own in the outskirts that would give you easy access to the office for work and central for social stuff.

Agree with this! I started work in London 6 months ago. Renting a place in Zone 6 and office in central London. The train station is 2 mins from my place so travelling to my work place takes me 50 mins to an hour door-to-door!

Are you looking for a room or whole apartment ? Might be able to help

I'm looking for a whole apartment, though if I had a roommate, I'd be looking at girls only

Experience speaking - I would suggest you to live closer to the city as the first few months will be very busy!

Super appreciated!

Hey - I’ve got a sublet in Fitzrovia, right by the BBC from late Jan to mid Feb.

It’s a 1BR all to yourself. Could be good before you find something more permanent. Reach out if you’re keen

Hi, I just saw your message and tried to DM you, but received a pop-up stating you’re not available to chat. Please DM me when you have a moment. Thanks!

Yes it would get tiring and rather miserable in this rainy cold winter. Where do you work and whats your budget?

Just bear in mind that even if close to the tube, it’s often another labyrinth of walkways before you actually get to the tube. I recommend looking in the earls court area near kensington- two major tube lines and all necessary stores nearby. Enjoy the move. Very jelly. Bundle up there!!

However, I’m just exhausted, unmotivated, and and looking for a change. At this point (6.5 yrs of practice), is that type of transition even possible or am I stuck due to the practice area?
