I’m officially burnt out, and the money isn't even touching the sides anymore. I’m making enough to live comfortably, but I’m working 70-hour weeks that leave me with zero time to actually enjoy the life I’m paying for. I’ve started looking at roles with 20% less pay but significantly more free time, and it feels like a total luxury. Is this a common phase in a finance career?

It's not exclusive to finance. This is every employee's goal. To reach the point where you're financially secure enough to take your foot off the gas. If that describes your current situation, by all means, take the paycut and give yourself a breather. You've earned it.

This industry attracts people who want to spend their whole life in the office and consider things like having a life to be a waste of time. That is not all of us, though. I keep a pretty strict 40 hours. Could I make more if I decided my friends and family don't matter? Of course, but I don't need more. I live comfortably.

I think a lot of people experience this as they get older. I’ve seen more and more people become comfortable with not climbing the ladder and staying where they’re at so they have more free time. The older I get, the more appealing this seems to me

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

Does anybody know what the typical salary range is and total comp for someone starting out as an internal or external wholesaler? If you are one of these, can you share about your experience in terms of whether you liked it or not, work life balance, travel, etc?

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.

Is anybody here a notary? And how much are you making from that? Is it a potential side-hustle?

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.
