I'm probably overthinking this, but I had a phone screen 8 days ago that went really well (or so I thought?). We even talked about next steps, and she said she'd follow up early this week. And now it's after hours on a Friday, and I haven't heard anything. Is this normal? Should I assume I'm being ghosted, or are recruiters just that busy right now?

It's really impossible to say. There are recruiters who won't think twice about ghosting someone. And it's also possible they're talking to people and deciding how to proceed and you could still be in consideration. You should try to follow up with them next week and see if you can get an idea of what's happening.

I'm in the same boat right now. Great screen, talked next steps, and then silence. I try to remind myself that this is normal and not personal. Many companies move at a snail's pace. If you don't hear by Tuesday, a polite follow-up email never hurts.
